When will the Range of Prizes in Tournaments Increase in the Noise or in the Number of Players?

چکیده
The symmetric equilibrium resulting from the celebrated Tournament model of Lazear and Rosen has a range of compensation between winner and loser which is inversely proportional to E[f(X)], the expectation of the additive noise’s density. There seems to be a belief that this functional is always increasing in the noise’s variability, which would agree with economic intuition when output is noisier it should be less worthwhile to work hard. We show such is not the case for all distributions, and characterize classes where such is or is not the case. When the number of players n grows, winning is more difficult so we would expect the required range of compensation to be larger. That would require that E[f(Y )], where Y = max(X1, · · · , Xn−1), will decrease in n. We examine the generality of this property. Finally we explore the same issues within a multiplicative model.

Mathematical model creation for Reducing damages in basketball players
Introduction: Hand and wrist stability are critical for optimal upper extremity function. Instability occurs when injury or a pathological condition alters balance, typically in the basketball players and handball players. Injury also can occur whenever the ligaments are subjected to tensile forces that exceed their physiological capacities. For example, thumb is stable in ext...

Background and Purpose: Frequent throwing Movements can change its muscular strength and range of motion balance shoulder athletes compared to non-athletes. The purpose of this study was to the comparison of strength ratio between agonist and antagonist muscles and range of motion of the shoulder in volleyball players and non-athletes. Research Method: Thirty female volleyball players (mean age...
متن کاملروشی نوین در کاهش نوفه رایسین از مقدار بزرگی سیگنال دیفیوژن در تصویربرداری تشدید مغناطیسی (MRI)
The true MR signal intensity extracted from noisy MR magnitude images is biased with the Rician noise caused by noise rectification in the magnitude calculation for low intensity pixels. This noise is more problematic when a quantitative analysis is performed based on the magnitude images with low SNR(<3.0). In such cases, the received signal for both the real and imaginary components will fluc...
متن کاملThe Effect of Side-Cutting Maneuver with and without Anticipating an Increase of Risk Factors of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury: Lower Limbs Kinematic Analysis
Background and Aim: Lack of attention to biomechanical parameters during sports maneuvers, especially unpredictable maneuvers can be one of the reasons for athleteschr('39') injuries in sports fields. The aim of this study was to compare the kinematic parameters of the lower limb in side-cutting maneuver with and without anticipation in male football players. Methods: In the present quasi-exper...
متن کاملt-Pancyclic Arcs in Tournaments
Let $T$ be a non-trivial tournament. An arc is emph{$t$-pancyclic} in $T$, if it is contained in a cycle of length $ell$ for every $tleq ell leq |V(T)|$. Let $p^t(T)$ denote the number of $t$-pancyclic arcs in $T$ and $h^t(T)$ the maximum number of $t$-pancyclic arcs contained in the same Hamiltonian cycle of $T$. Moon ({em J. Combin. Inform. System Sci.}, {bf 19} (1994), 207-214) showed that $...
